Dan's past legal
experience includes

Park-based GeoAccess,
Inc., General Counsel
of Atlanta-based
information security
company
INSUREtrust.com, and
global IT Law Manager
for the technology
insurance groups of USF
& G and St. Paul
Fire & Marine
Insurance Companies. He
began his work in
technology law in 1993
as Claims Counsel for
Media/Professional
Insurance, where he
handled several early
Internet claims. Before
that, Dan spent four
years as a trial lawyer
at the law firm of
Smith, Gill, Fisher
& Butts (now known
as Bryan,
Cave).
Expertise
Dan has actively
spoken, published and
participated in
industry roundtables on
issues of technology
law and policy in the
U.S., Canada, Europe
and Israel. This
includes membership in
the Aspen Institute's
Internet Policy
Project, the American
Bar Association's TIPS
section, PLUS, and the
BESTS roundtable on
electronic commerce in
Europe. He is a regular
contributor to the
Boston-based Cutter IT
Consortium’s
Risk and
Governance
publication, a former
editorial board member
of the Cyberspace
Lawyer, and has
published articles for
the Practising Law
Institute, the American
Bar Association,
Defense Counsel
Journal, Intellectual
Property Counselor, and
others. In 2003, he
co-authored a chapter

Security—Risking
the Corporation
with Linda McCarthy,
Executive Vice
President for Security
Services of Symantec,
Inc., and has
contributed chapters to
two books published by
the National
Underwriter Company.
He has been quoted in

Education
Dan is a 1988 graduate
of the University of
Iowa College of Law
(where he was an editor
of the Iowa Law
Review), and a 1984
graduate (Magna Cum
Laude) of Creighton
University in Omaha,
Nebraska. He served as
judicial clerk to
Justice Linda K. Neuman
of the Iowa Supreme
Court from 1988 to
1989.
